I want to be able to check to see if a query is going to take up too many resources and if it does it is not allowed to run and inserts data about the query. Who, what when into a table and maybe emailed to the DBA. I am not sure how I would go about this.
Would it be resource governor? And I want that if it is an application running it that it is allowed to run but still inserts the data and emailed to the dba and if it is an adhoc query that it is not allowed to run. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
