I am currently working on SQL server 2008 R2 sp2 on a Vmware server. Everything is working fine pretty much, but when my evening server maintenance kicks in I am intermittently getting the following error:
SQL Server has encountered 3442 occurrence(s) of I/O requests taking longer than 15 seconds to complete on file [k:\DATA\Stuff.mdf] in database [Stuff] (6).
I have expanded the size of my Temp DB and also reduced max Memory settings leaving more space to the OS and Maintenance type tasks, but I am still getting intermittent I/O errors.
My SAN admin does not seem to think it is his problem. What detail can I provide to prove the issue is SAN config related? I have also noticed that a server reboot will alleviate this problem for about 2 weeks. What is building up to cause this error after a couple of weeks.
Any help you can provide would be appreciated.
